About
Manon Eaves paints figures and forms at the threshold of perception, exploring dreamlike spaces where body, psyche, and image converge. Drawing on mythic and psychological imagery, her work considers the premise that Western perception is structured through a fundamentally masculine logic—not only in its gaze, but in the very architecture through which meaning is formed. Rather than critiquing this gaze, Eaves inhabits its interior terrain. Figures emerge fragmented, inverted, or suspended, inhabiting atmospheres charged with ambiguity and moments of perceptual instability. Her paintings probe the porous boundary between illusion and revelation, revealing symbolic worlds that can confine, transform, or recalibrate experience.
Eaves’ practice has evolved through years of independent study and dialogue with other artists, including residencies and critique-based painting programs that have shaped her visual language.
